Moving Day

Posted on

Something else I am so thankful for today? That moving day happened before this crappy sickness struck our house! Ans is home from the hospital but now I have it and let me tell you, I haven’t been this sick since we got influenza several years ago. So I am typing this post into my phone, sitting up in the bed where I’ve been for the last 36 hours.

Moving day for the plants happened about a week ago. I was inspired to start tomatoes and peppers from seed by my friend Katie. Last year she left us some sets that she had grown in red plastic cups- brilliant! So this year I am thankful to have ordered my seeds before the world started ending.

Other than a devastating attack on my peppers on the bottom shelf (did you know a mouse will eat the tops off of all of your baby hot peppers?!), it went off without a hitch.

We have a simple green plastic mesh garden fence strung up, mostly for the dogs. Now to figure out how to keep out the rabbits and deer in lieu of putting up a massive (and expensive!) fence.

I am looking for deterrents that work. Have any of you had any experience using dial soap for a deterrent? Or anything else?

  1. I just had to redo some of my fencing as groundhogs got in last summer and tore down my cucumber vines and ate my squash plant. Luckily the squash bounced back and new cucumbers grew. I have such a tiny space fenced the deer can’t jump in at least they’ve never tried that I’ve seen. If I’m not careful thought they have stuck thier head over and nibbled before.

    1. Oh my! Sounds like you need a Buddy dog! Buddy left us a groundhog gift in the yard when we came home this afternoon🤢
